Hi all,

I've got a firefly 2678 and was wondering about it's history if anyone could help me? Thinking about mark 4ing it?

Also looking for very cheap accomodation for the Champs in Temby. There's a campsite out of town I'm looking at at the moment but if there's a spare back garden, floor we would be interested!

Cheers,
Toby

Toby - you enquire into your Firefly - she was built in 1961 and supplied to her first owner 6 March; on RYA measurement, she weighed in at 161 lb against a minimum at the time of 160lb Built on mould 4. Her shell number is 2812, part of the stock control system at the Fairey Marine workshop. Built, of course, to the Mark l layout, all varnished, with sails by Ratsey and Lapthorn, in terylene, then in only their third year of use in the class.

Sadly, only one owner is noted in her record, a lady living at Ipswich in the mid '60s. She named her 'Wildcat' Also, sadly no record of which club she was sailed from.

Good luck with the re-build to Mark lV if you proceed! Is she in good shape? Where you sail her? What boat name will you use?

I must leave it to other members better informed to help you on the Tenby accomodation question!

Cheers Peter,

That's fantastic to find some info on the boat and it's really interesting. It's nice to here it was down to weight. The boat is in perfect condition and the last owner has put a new stern on it! I just hope I can do it justice, it's a pleasure working on it!

'Wildcat' Is a gooda name as any :) I plan to sail the boat at opens/nats/pursuit races.

Hi Tobes

So you have fallen for one of the little ladies then. Best of luck with the new ship.

May even get Cappachino out of the shed in the near future to come at mix it with the fleet.

Bye for now
